When you are visiting St.Sophia Cathedral in Kiev, you can consider having your lunch at Fish Market Restaurant. It’s only 2 minutes walk from St.Sophia Cathedral complex, and I think historically this place used to be a fish market.  Because of their superb deal for business lunch, this one is my personal favorite!

It looks like a fancy restaurant from outside. And the interior looks like your are in an aquarium. It’s classic, and very comfortable.

The Lunch Menu of Fish Market

Business lunch is available from noon to 5pm from Monday to Friday. Ask the waiter if you are not given with lunch menu. There are 3 options:

• Appetizer + First Course + Drink = 165UAH  ($6)
•  First Course +Main Course+ Drink = 165UAH ($6)
• Appetizer + First Course +Main Course+ Drink = 195UAH ($7)

(If you need an advice from me, I think if you don’t have a big appetite in general, then a 2-course meal is fine.)

For appetizer I had Olivier salad. As states on the menu, it’s 250 grams! Well, this could be a complete lunch for a small eater already! And taste wise… hmm maybe it’s ‘traditional’? Visually it is pretty though.

For first-course we had soup.

Mushroom Cream Soup, the waiter would present you a big plate with lots of mushroom inside! And then he would open a lid and pour cream soup from another jug. Very artistic! And after this soup, I was full already! 

You can also choose Fish Soup with Mushroom and Rivioli, but I personally wouldn’t recommend this because ravioli was not too tasty. 

And you can try Must Soup with Chicken and Mushroom Moer…   Moer is a Chinese herb that you commonly see in Chinese cuisine. So I was quite surprised to see Moer in this soup!

The main course.  Grilled Mackerel, and it’s so pretty! A 3-course meal like this in Kiev, right next to St.Sophia’s Cathedral for $7? Seriously? Well there are expensive restaurants for sure, and that’s why this restaurant is one of my favorites.

You should try Kiev Chicken, it’s chicken breast filled with cheese. Very delicious! And look at the quantity of that mash potato! Who can finish all this? Wow!

For main course you could also choose dumpling. Eh, and I was so surprised that they served CHINESE dumplings! A serving comes with 6 pieces. Well technically it’s more like a snack than a meal if it’s only 6 pieces. But I’m pretty happy about this! Also a drink is included, so you can choose Jasmin tea or coffee.

So we had 2 two-course meal and 1 three-course meal. All together it was 525UAH for the 3 of us! That’s $20 for the 3 of us! It’s unbelievably great for value to dine out in Ukraine!
