My Experience with LUX Express – The Megabus in the Baltics

If you are traveling to the Baltics (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) then you are likely to discover LUX express and Simple Express. This is one of the two cheap bus service in the region. (The other is ecoline)

About the Company

Simple express and LUX express are one company but I have no idea why they need to create two brands. LUX express was obviously means their coach is more comfortable. When you search on LUX express you will also see search results of Simple express too. And I personally prefer Simple/LUX express over Ecoline because the user interface is better.

Tips: Sign up for Newsletters to Receive News On Promotion!

They announce special deals which last for only about a day. If you know you might travel with them, you can sign up the newsletter and wait for promotion. Their tickets don’t run out very fast. In my case I didn’t see a promotion from Tallinn to Riga but there were many amazing deals from Warsaw I think!

Since my travel time was restricted, I couldn’t choose Simple Express (11 euros). My only option was LUX express (16 euros). So here was my experience.

Reclinable Chairs

The seat was spacious and reclinable. And there’s enough leg room. It was very comfortable.

Entertainment

Every seat has a personal touch screen. You can watch movies although there weren’t many selections and you need to have your own ear phones. Oh! You can also use this pad to surf internet!

Toilet Facility

There’s also a toilet in the coach. (My mom didn’t know so she paid for 0.3 euro to use the toilet at the bus station.)

Drinks

In front of the toilet there’s a coffee machine for free drinks. You can enjoy hot drinks for free, which is great! And not just coffee or hot cocoa, there’s also a selection of tea for you to choose. All for free! When you travel in Europe for a while, you start to be grateful for free drinks and free toilets… really!

And they also give you complementary water.

The journey took about 4 hours from Tallinn to Riga. It was very comfortable for me that I didn’t feel the stress at all. The scenery was good too!

I can recommend LUX Express to you!

Information on Bus Station in Tallinn

Take bus No.2 to go there. Or you could walk. I walked with my luggage. And it wasn’t the best decision in my life. It wasn’t far and road was flat. But when you’ve travelled for a while, sometimes it’s just nice to save some energy…. just my opinion! Bus ticket was about 1.1 euros!
