‘Hello, is it true that by presenting my Copenhagen card I will get a souvenir?’ I asked the staff at ticket counter at National Museum of Denmark.
‘Yes, of course!’ He cheerfully answered.
As I was about to give him my card, I couldn’t find it. I checked every pocket, there was nothing. My pockets were empty. And I started to check my bag, there was still no sight of my Copenhagen Card.
I couldn’t remember where I lost it. Did I lose it when I took off my jacket? How could I just lose it after I just bought this card 4 hours ago at 589 kr!
I decided that I wouldn’t buy a new one …. I could afford a holiday in Copenhagen without a Copenhagen Card, but I couldn’t afford another Copenhagen Card….
“Here’s your souvenir. I can tell by your face that your Copenhagen Card is more important than this.” The staff gave me a set of postcards, I thanked him and ran to find my lost card.
My only guess was either it was lost on my way here, or it was lost inside the Jewish Museum, my previous stop. I wish I knew where my card was, I wish someone could tell me. I wish someone would invent GPS tracking stickers so that I could put it on every important belonging of mine. I wish I could have a clue.
It was already 5pm. I wasn’t sure if the Jewish Museum was still open. But I had to go… and the staff recognized me but my card wasn’t with them. I could barely hold my tears. 589 kr is $88, and I just lost it. What now?
I asked if I could check the bathroom, and they were okay with it.
I wasn’t sure how I still remembered under such stress that I used washroom there. And when I went inside, I immediately checked into the hand towels box, where I put my jacket.
I put my hands inside the box, and I felt something. There it was, a card! My card!
It must have felt from the pocket of my jacket, and I didn’t see it as the box was not transparent and its opening was above my eye level. I couldn’t describe what it was like to recover my lost card..
But I realized no matter how much I planned for my trip, I needed God to be in the plan too. Otherwise, my plan could easily not work out. If God didn’t help me, I wouldn’t be looking for my Copenhagen Card before the Jewish Museum was closed, or I wouldn’t be allowed to enter the Jewish Museum before it was closed, or I wouldn’t be reminded it could be in the bathroom, or if it was lost on the road, I would have no way to retrieve it.
I am truly humbled by this experience. I lost my card for less than 30 minutes, but it felt much longer than that. I can’t stress how important my Copenhagen Card was.
You could see how I planned and used my Copenhagen Card: Visiting Copenhagen with Copenhagen Card- I saved more than 1300 DKK! For me, 589kr was not a small amount for me, and I considered a long time before making up my mind for buying it.
But for me, I realized a blessing in my life through losing this Copenhagen Card, that is
It’s surely a blessing to have God looking over you, and though Google couldn’t tell me where my Copenhagen Card was, my Father in Heaven could! He knew where it was and led me there!
Thank you God!
