As a budget backpacker, you cannot miss this cheap dining place at one of the most beautiful old town in the world. At the center of the Old Town of Tallinn, you’d find a square where the Town Hall is situated. In this picture, you can see a grey building on the left. Yup, that’s the town hall.
At the Town Hall you’ll find a small entrance, well, that’s the entrance to this mysterious looking and hilarious cafe/bakery. I actually don’t know if it has a name. Let’s say it’s a cafe, you’d see a medieval woman selling elk soup and interesting meat pies. All for a very cheap price! Elk soup was definitely for 2 euros only. And I don’t remember clearly but I think meat pies were around 1 euro.
She could sound a little bit rude/rough, but I actually thought she was really good at her character.
The atmosphere was simply awesome! And about the soup…. well if you are afraid of the taste of elk then I can tell you there’s nothing to be afraid of. But if you are expecting to taste something exotic, I can also tell you there’s nothing to expect. Haha! For me it didn’t taste anything special, it was like pork.
And about the meat pie…. I think I had a reindeer meat pie… again it wasn’t delicious but I liked the atmosphere so much that I don’t really care about the taste.
I hope you enjoy this place!
