Uzhgorod, a tiny and delicate city on the border, is where I’ve seen the prettiest girls in Ukraine. Being a girl myself, I think my judgement isn’t too bad, and especially when Ukraine is already know for having prettiest girls.  It is difficult to find Uzhgorod on the map, but it is actually an important part between Ukraine and the EU.  It takes less than 30 minutes to reach the border to Slovakia or Hungary! So naturally, in a strategic location like this, you will find all kinds of cuisine. And because the city is kind of forgotten……. prices are relatively cheaper! These are the restaurants I think worth recommending:

1.Dolce

Opened in a residential area on the main road,  Dolce is a restaurant with typical European flair. Every dish is super delicious. The best  dish is probably the spaghetti with fish, and their dessert was mouthwatering! We all seek different things when traveling, but this restaurant will make you feel so local. Expect to spend around 180UAH.

2.Breakfast at… Uzhgorod Castle!

A restaurant opened in the castle’s walls,  so it’s slightly pricey. But you can come here for breakfast and the price is good! here you will also find Uzhgorod specialties, like the kind of rice balls in Momotaro. Expect to pay  100UAH

3.A Priori – Cell Restaurant

During Soviet era, the Cancun was forced to hide underground. This wine cellar also became an underground club. It used to have a passage directly to the old theater. This shop is on the edge of the Uzh River. The interior makes it seems like an expensive place to dine, but the price is normal. Maybe that’s because non-Ukrainians know little about Uzhgorod.  The atmosphere is very good and the meals are ok. Breakfast from 100UAH

4.Fabbrica Drugetti – Best Burger Ever!

Located centrally, with the gas-lamp statue outside, and musicians outside, this place used to be the first cafe in Uzhgorod! There’s so much history in this place! Though now it’s turned to be like an Irish pub. But…. their burger is world class! And it’s only 70UAH! ($2, seriously??)

5. Shtefanyo : The Macaron Place

A very delicate shop that sells macarons. This just happens to be a summary of the feeling that Uzhgorod gives me: It is a city with its own taste. Coffee + Macaron 50 UAH
