If you come to Latvia for a few days, I think Jurmala would be a nice place to hang out. There are many resorts and clinics in this area. And I can see why! It’s only 1 hour away from Riga, and the beach is very flat.
However, for me, it’s just a beach.
It didn’t surprise me as much as the beaches in Tasmania that I saw. So I suppose you don’t come to Latvia for Jurmala, but if you have time, it’s a place to visit. (And Kemeri National Park is just nearby!)
I tried to find the ‘walking street’ of Jurmala, but I didn’t find something that was close to my imagination. Ah. So I’m not sure what I saw.
The beach if perfect for small kids.
And there is a min-restaurant at the beach. It’s quite cheap and very relaxing to sit there by the beach. The famous cold soup is only 1.5 euros there.
I was there just for 30 minutes… there weren’t many people around.
My advice/warning for you is to stop to pay for entrance fee (2 euros) before you enter Jurmala. Otherwise you’d get a fine!!
If you go too fast, you’ll miss it. We were really careful as we were told the toll is right after the bridge. And yet we still almost missed it! I can’t believe it!
I suggest you to take a look of the picture here before you go,
