Car Rental in Latvia and Lithuania- Green Motion

Is renting a car necessary to travel in the Baltics? Is it easy to drive in the Baltic? Well, suppose you have an answer to both the questions, let me recommend you this car rental company- Green Motion. https://greenmotion.com

Why do I recommend it? Well, it was the cheapest that I found…. Nothing else. Really.

We rented a car for 6 days and it cost 128 euros. So that’s about 21.3 euros per day.

You pick up the car from the airport (they provide shuttle bus service 24/7) and you’ll arrive this parking lot near the airport shared by several car rental companies.

The car we got was not brand new (I don’t mind anyways) and not very clean. A scrap we saw was actually just bird poo. Although the car was rented in Latvia, the car plate belonged to Lithuania. I was curious so I asked for the reason.

It turns out from the business point of view it’s cheaper to keep Lithuanian car plates as Lithuanian government asks for tax once every two years, and Latvian government does it every year.

The pickup was easy, and the return was easy too. I thought they’d be at office at 8 a.m. but I waited till 8:20am yet nobody showed up or picked up the phone. So we just dropped the car key to the box.

And that’s obviously not the safest thing to do. I had no idea if I’d be charged for some non-existed damage of the car. But I had no choice as I had to catch a flight to Copenhagen at 9:55am.

So well, we took several pictures of the car.

And on the same day, I got an email from their staff saying our car was fine, and we were good.

So yes, it’s a company that can be trusted.

And while talking about trust, I tried to book a car with

This is like a car rental version of airbnb. And you can get a car as cheap as 10 euros for a day! But I didn’t go for them eventually as I had to return my car at 8am near the airport, and it wasn’t available for these car owners. And partially I wasn’t convinced that their cars were in good condition. But if you feel like trying them, why not!
