Free Attraction in Stockholm- The Medieval Museum

It is not a big museum, but it is close to the Old Town (between the old town and Sodermalm).

The Medieval Museum opens from 12 to 7pm, and it is FREE to enter now.

There is a stone tunnel that takes you to the section about the history of Stockholm. You will find out when was Stockholm first recorded in writings (by a monk, I think.) And the early history of Stockholm.

And the medieval culture in Stockholm. And something related to early Christianity in Stockholm. I need to read more on this….

An old ship.

The display in the museum is really nice. You don’t feel bored to explore around. And there’s even a section for children… there are drawings of a mice family visiting places of Stockholm. It’s cute! And there are replica of bakery, shops and monastery inside the museum. And articles from churches too.

I am unable to share all that I saw. The medieval museum is small but I liked the ambiance. If you have time (for 30 minutes) and if it is raining, it is free and worthwhile.  And toilet is for free too (in case you can’t find one for free in the Old Town…)

If you don’t have time, then you are not missing a lot.. 🙂 Oh, and the most important information is probably free toilets!(it is usually 10kr elsewhere).
