Hvammstangi is the place where you can see seals! Although it takes some effort to get there.
When you are in Hvammstangi, continue the road you came in towards Vatnses for 20 km. There is no other road towards Vatnses. And you are ready to park. There is an area that looks like there’s enough space to park. Don’t hesitate otherwise it will take you another 3 kilometers to make a U turn. Right where you park, there is a mini gate. It is unlocked. Go ahead and go near the beach.
The place is beautiful itself. And this was around 11pm in June.
Hopefully you will see some seals there. I saw two right away, although it was in distance. And it was freezing so I left after 5 minutes or so.
Remember to go when it is low tide (11am or 11pm). I went when it was 11pm. But perhaps you will have higher chance to spot more in the morning if it is warmer.
