If you have a car while you are in Riga, don’t miss out on Lido. This beautiful restaurant is a bit out of your way… but it’s very popular to the locals.
The atmosphere is very cozy. It’s just perfect for family.
And it’s beautiful from inside. (Again, perfect for family!)
To the outside. (A traditional Latvian mill?) (Let me repeat, perfect for family!)
The place is self-serviced (although there’s a buffet section in the basement), and it’s filled with Latvian food. You can choose freely what you like. Everything is clearly marked with name and price. And remember to buy your parking at the counter too (parking isn’t free! but I don’t think you’ll be able to come here without a car.)
And the food was nice. It didn’t disappoint but it also didn’t surprise me. We tried their fish, beef, pork, pasta, some other weird stuff and desert. Fish was really good. Rest was alright.
But I still enjoyed the meal in that wonderful atmosphere. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it there too.
I read online that there’s live music too (but I didn’t see or hear any). So, the place is atmospheric, but inconvenient to reach unless you have a car. There’s a wide selection of Latvian food, but the taste is average.
In terms of price… it is definitely not expensive but again not ‘cheap’. Comparing to Charlie’s pizza, Lido is actually more expensive. When you take this plate for 3 euros and that one for 4 euros, it all adds up! We spent 7 euros each person, but we ate less than what we did in Charlie’s pizza. I didn’t have other dining experience, so this is basically my experience.
But keeping all the factors in mind, I still feel Lido is good for value. And the place is beautiful to take pictures. It’s a place to have good time as family! So I still recommend this place (it’s like an attraction filled with food).
And remember, there are many Lido restaurant chains in Riga. This is the one you need to come called Lido Atputas.
