Even if you are not going to Skansen, it worth a trip to Djurgarden. And I’m glad that I went. It’s easy to go to Djurgarden from Slussen (where the old town is).
And you will see a ferry stop like this. This is your port.
The ferry leaves every 10 or 15 minutes. And it is the only leg covered by Stockholm Travel Card. Other ferry service is private in Stockholm. And on the ferry you will probably see small kids who are going to Skansen!
When you get there, you will first see Tivoli amusement park. It’s nice to walk around even if you aren’t going to Skansen. There are some old houses and parks on this island. And it is very green and pleasant to walk.
You will probably see beautiful flowered placed in public.
And a bridge with houseboats. And probably more if you go for a small adventure yourself!
And after you’ve walked around, pick a spot to have picnic. It’s very nice!
Enjoy!
