Canary, piano, garden, champagne… you can find all these romantic elements in ONE place, Baczewski Restaurant! You might not have heard of this place before, but this is the most beautiful secret garden in Lviv, if not the whole Ukraine! When a local friend told me that I should get there early and expect to queue, I was like “then why bother”? But then now I am the one telling everyone to go to Baczewski Restaurant, queue up, and have the most amazing morning in your life!
For every other meal except for breakfast, you can call and make reservation. But for breakfast, you better line up early! They start breakfast from 8AM to 11AM. When we arrived at 7:55AM, there were already many people. This was truly a very popular place! The Morning Buffet is for 120UAH ($4.5), and yes, it is all-you-can-eat, and champagne is included in the price. What?? Really?
Once you come inside. Wow, it’s like a greenhouse. You will find yourself surrounded by plants. And there will be a pianist and a singing canary! How romantic is that!
This pianist played for 3 hours… And actually there’s a 90-minute dining rule, but it was a rainy day, there weren’t many new guests, and we kept our seats till 10:40AM.

You can get an omelete. Some cold dishes. Salad. Spreads. Cheese. Pastries. There are many options, more than any typical hotel buffet you find in this part of the world.
You can order Kompot (cold fruit-tea), hot tea and coffee. The atmosphere was really good!
And the coolest part, champagne! Everyone gets a glass for free! Wow! Now let’s talk about fundraising (just kidding)… and let’s toast!
Baczewski is a Vodka brand founded in 1782 by a Jewish family. The name “Baczewski” was equivalent to Vodka…. in history before Holocaust happened. And everything was gone! This brand that once thrived from Lviv in Austro-Hungarian Empire was about to be forgotten.
However someone from the family came back to Lviv a few years ago and built this restaurant.
If you ever have a chance to come to Lviv in Ukraine, then this is a must-visit restaurant! I think I will go to Lviv again just for this wonderful breakfast, especially it was only for $4.5!
