When I Hitchhiked in Israel… I Was Taken to This Place

I never thought about hitchhiking…. and I never thought about going to Israel…

What I never never thought about was the combination of these two ideas… Yes, I hitchhiked in Israel! As incredible as it sounds, it happened without trying.

I was with a friend, and we wanted to see Galilee while we didn’t have a car. We took the bus to Capernaum (we walked a bit…) but in case you didn’t know, public transportation outside Jerusalem isn’t that convenient.

While we worried what we’d do after we visited Capernaum, someone called us. It was a German couple who asked us if we needed a lift (and where we were going).

You can say it was pure luck, really. And who gives luck, or favor? God! Really.

The couple took us to the Sea of Galilee.

And after that, the Church of Multiplication in Tagbah.

I was really surprised with how friendly they were. And after Tagbah, they suggested going to Arbel National Park, a place I had never heard of before.

Well, why not? Of course we were interested!

And this was what I saw. Plains.

But why did we come here? Well, look that way!

This is why! A great view over Sea of Galilee (Lake Tiberias)!

And a good view over Golan heights.

I felt so so fortunate to be able to come here. And a week before this trip, I had no idea that I would have a chance to come to Israel. It all seemed too unreal!

There was even an Israelite family who shared their fruits with us. It was of course, delicious when you receive hospitality plus when you are thirsty after hiking up here and plus fruits are delicious in Israel..!

I felt very fortunate to experience God’s kindness to me in the land of His chosen people! It’s really a privilege. 🙂

Update: 09 Sep 2015

I’ve never hitchhiked after this. So even till now this was a day that was truly special and memorable to me.
