Even if you are on a budget, you can still experience Norway’s fjord for a relatively cheap price.
Oslo fjord is the closest fjord available from Oslo (hence the name). You can take a dinner cruise or sightseeing cruise, but it won’t be cheap…be prepared to pay 190kr to 360kr depending on the program.
Alternatively, you can use your 24 hours ticket for all zones (not Oslo Pass) to take the public ferry through the Oslo fjord.
Public Ferry: B21
There are several stops and routes but be aware of the ferry schedule. It runs more frequently in the summer, but still not very frequent.
The best destination is Drobak (or Oscarborg). Take B21 from Aker Brygge at 10am.
It will only be possible to visit both places by public transportation in a day if you go there on a Saturday or Sunday because of the ferry schedule.
The public ferry is quite nice and there’s an open deck on the upper storey. And coffee for 10kr (only cash).
And the scenary is quite nice. Very peaceful It is very green comparing to Iceland. Haha! Though it might be a little bit quiet and boring… it depends on people. I like waters in general so it was pleasant for me.
The trip is very good for value, in terms of Norwegian price.
The 24 hours ticket costs 190kr, and suppose you already used it to come from the airport (90kr), and to get around the city, then the actual cost for this trip (return) is not more than 70kr!
And most likely, you will be surrounded with local people and not tourists.
This looks absolutely gorgeous!! We can’t wait until our foodie travels take us to Oslo. Thanks for the tips. I’ll remember this! http://www.ourfoodieappetite.com/zynodoa-restaurant-review-staunton-va/
