What I Got from $10 Danube Evening Cruise in Budapest!

Here’s a useful money saving tip for anyone who wants to go on a cruise on Danube in Hungary for a cheap price. I found this tour online, and was wondering if there was any catch in it, since the price was less than $10 per person! And a free drink is included too!

I don’t know what the more expensive tour would offer, since this was the only cruise I went, but this was good enough for me! I bought this tour 2 days ahead on Viator. It was a bit tricky to arrange the timing for my cruise, as Viator uses an old booking system and choosing a time slot wasn’t possible. It’s possible that you’d like to go on an earlier cruise only to find out that cruise was fully booked. I was left with a 23:00 cruise option…. But communication was fine.

My Experience of this $9 Cruise

The boat arrived on time, and at the exact location the email mentioned (Szent István Park Port , near pier 0). The boat seemed to be quite small.

The interior of the boat. Grab a seat! Although most people preferred outdoor deck (which was kinda crowded)

The free drink! Not bad!

The cruise lasted for 50 minutes. Views were great! Budapest was truly beautiful at night!

I was kind of happy for choosing this cruise because if you could see Budapest at night for less than $10, why spend more for dinner&cruise or show&cruise? I saw many brochures from this company around Budapest, you can check their pricing below. A drink + cruise & concert costs 14600 huf ($55). If you aren’t interested in going to a concert, then this option would seem very very expensive.  (although if you physically appear in front of this company’s stall, they’d give you discount and charge you only student’s price. If you are a student anyways, then I guess there’s no extra discount.) Still! $10 cruise is good enough!

Making a Reservation

For the $10 cruise I went, I booked it on Viator. Just go to their website

https://www.viator.com/tours/Budapest/Cruise-and-Cocktail/d499-14765P6

And you’d get a confirmation email with direction to the pier. Don’t worry about having to print it out, I simply waived my phone to the sailor and he didn’t even check. ($36.96 was for 4 people! Not for 1)
